Kurt Petri is a Partner with Dudley Newman Feuerzeig LLP and has significant experience in rendering tax advice to local, United States, and international clients on a broad array of topics, including the application of local taxes, such as the gross receipts tax and USVI Customs, to clients’ operations; structuring international transactions under the Virgin Islands and United States tax codes; and representing clients in discussions and negotiations with the Internal Revenue Service and the Virgin Islands Bureau of Internal Revenue. Mr. Petri also has successfully navigated firm clients through the complex arena of estate and gift tax planning and property tax issues, and has worked with various businesses in connection with EDC planning and compliance. He also has experience with nonprofit formation and governance issues.

In addition to his tax work, Mr. Petri serves as outside counsel for local lenders on residential real estate and commercial loans, including drafting loan documentation, reviewing documents provided by borrowers, and performing loan closings. Moreover, his experience allows him to advise clients on property and secured lending issues related to mortgage lending.

During the course of his career, Mr. Petri also has represented clients in various real estate transactions, including cost sharing plans, condominium documentation, and the transfer of title to real property in purchase and gift transactions. He also has experience with local licensing and insurance issues.

Finally, Mr. Petri has ten years of previous experience as an auditor, advising clients on the structure of asset based loans ranging from $1 million to $850 million, and performing ongoing compliance audits for major lenders.

Mr. Petri is admitted to practice in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and is active in the legal community as a member of the Virgin Islands Bar Association. He has served on the board as Treasurer to both the Eastwind Condominium Association and My Brother’s Workshop, a local charity working with disadvantaged youths.
